The New York chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW) has honored Leslie Abi-Karam, executive vice president and president, communications solutions at Pitney Bowes, as a “Woman of Power and Influence.” The award was presented to Abi-Karam by NOW’s New York chapter at its 24th annual Women of Power and Influence awards dinner on June 21.

As president of communications solutions at Pitney Bowes, Abi-Karam runs a global portfolio of technology businesses that collectively account for more than 60% of Pitney Bowes’s $5.3 billion annual revenue. She also oversees the company’s global supply chain and customer operations, providing service and support to more than 1.5 million Pitney Bowes customers in the U.S. and Canada.

Abi-Karam has made innumerable major contributions to Pitney Bowes in her 28-year career. Highlights include directing the largest global launch of products and solutions in the company’s history from 1999-2001; orchestrating a series of acquisitions that accelerated Pitney Bowes’s transition to digital and software offerings in the past decade; and more recently leading Pitney Bowes’s charge into new markets like high-speed color printing and the emerging digital mailbox industry.

Abi-Karam is a board member of Pentair, Inc. and the Direct Marketing Association.

“I am delighted to be honored by the National Organization for Women and humbled to join the ranks of the distinguished women who have been previously selected,” Abi-Karam said. “NOW is an outstanding leader on so many issues and challenges facing women in our society, and this recognition is truly one of the most thrilling moments in my career.”
